a student participating in a science experiment

Gas exploding, robots racing, and bubbles bursting—it was an unforgettable night of discovery on January 23rd! Jefferson Elementary transformed into a giant laboratory for Mad Science, an interactive night of hands-on learning for our students and families.

Presented in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle and the Jefferson PTA, the evening was all about "learning by doing."

🔬 Highlights of the Night:

The Bernoulli Effect: Students learned about air pressure and lift using... a leaf blower and toilet paper! 🧻🌬️

Physics in Motion: Families built towers to explore gravity and balance, and even took a ride on a hovercraft!

Chemistry & Robotics: From watching dry ice create bubbling cauldrons to navigating remote-controlled robots, our future scientists were in their element.

💡 Why It Matters

"The Mad Science program encouraged students to think, ask questions, and experiment," said third-grade teacher Aimee Ferguson. "By providing hands-on experiences, we continue to foster a love of science while bringing our community together through shared discovery."

"It inspired me to do science at home and make a robot!" — Olivia, 3rd Grade 🤖

Events like this make science meaningful, accessible, and—most importantly—FUN! A huge thank you to everyone who came out to build, test, and discover with us.
