NYS Education Department Named Jefferson Elementary School a "High Performing School"

Welcome to Jefferson Elementary School
" A High Performing School That Cares."

*

Classes begin at 8:40 AM at Jefferson Elementary School.  Children should arrive by 8:30 so they will be prepared to start classes at that time.  Any child arriving after 8:40 is considered late and will need a late pass from the office.  If they arrive at the classroom after that time without a late pass, the teacher will send them to the office to obtain one.

If we have an early dismissal during school time due to inclement weather and a family member is unavailable to pick children up, they will be sent to their emergency contact.

11/22/08  Pancake Breakfast at New Rochelle High School, 8:00 AM, followed by Jefferson students marching in the Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Please join us and march.  Wear your school colors:  red and white.  Dress warmly!

The weather is getting colder! Please dress your children appropriately with hats, coats, scarves, and mittens or gloves. As with lunch boxes or any personal items, please label everything with first and last names in case they get lost.

Dear Parents,

As of October 3, 2008, the school district is charging full price for all students who did not return their lunch form.

Attached is a lunch form. You may also find it in the school calendar.

Please fill out this form and return it to your child's Homeroom teacher.

Thank you,

From the Principal

Dear Families,
You can look forward to a number of very exciting events that are going on at Jefferson over the next several months. We are filming our Videoconferencing Center and students will be talking with students across New York State, and hopefully with children in other states and other countries. This is our second year of the Jefferson Film Club and some children in grades 4 and 5 will learn pre-production, production, and post-production techniques, write a play, and then act and produce their play. Their piece will be shown to the entire school. In addition, we have Jacob Burns Film Festival for our grade 4 students. Our 4th grade are making animated films which will be shown in December and then in May. More...
